Victoria Culinary Incubator supports small and early-stage food businesses by helping offset startup costs through shared resources and access to a fully equipped commercial kitchen.
Monthly access is available (subject to availability) starting at $850 + GST, with most tenants paying between $850 and $1,300 per month. Rent includes water, utilities, repairs and maintenance, alarm and fire prevention systems, Wi-Fi, cleaning supplies, and dishwasher chemicals. These shared costs are a fraction of what a business would pay for a private, standalone space.
Refrigeration and dry storage space are allocated based on each business’s needs and rental level. There may also be opportunities to bring in larger specialty equipment, subject to approval.
We aim to foster a diverse mix of culinary businesses, including beverage producers, candy makers, bakers, and condiment manufacturers, among others. At this time, we are not accepting businesses that rely on deep frying, operate as caterers, or require hourly or daily rental options.
All businesses must be eligible for an inter-municipal business licence, pass a VIHA health inspection, and carry business liability insurance. We can provide guidance to candidates on obtaining these things, if needed. A contract and one month’s rent security deposit are required for all businesses.
